I would argue our public health apparatus began going wrong when they mission creeped the c.d.c. to include matters far outside of infectious agents as their area of expertise. That includes drugs, domestic abuse, playground safety, etc etc and yes, guns. And like them redefining vaccine to cover their glaring failure in that area, they recently, in response to concerned groups (guess who), have removed any reference to gun employment in self defense from their website. Guess they felt a need to redefined gun safety for us.
