I think you are spot on. Since we working Americans have been asleep at the wheel enjoying the fruits or OUR labor, we did not notice that the school systems removed requirements for Government, economics, world history, and American history.

These subjects became 'electives' 20 years or so ago. No wonder our young people are repeating history, to them it is not history. They do not know what happened, then were not enlightened by education like most of us were.
One of my physician clients, a first generation Chinese American made his teenagers take the elective courses mentioned above so that they would understand where he came from, and their Mother who is a Viet Nam refugee. These parents happily sent their son and daughter off to Tulane and Georgetown, and lost them to politics. The children they raised to be proud Americans turned into total liberals who hate the parents who gave them the opportunity they never had in their mother countries.
How very sad for all four of them.
When people in my community ask me why I care about the school system here in Mesa Arizona since I do not have children, I am stunned by the ignorance of so many about who controls our tax dollars. Our community wants a 500,000.00 bond to be put towards facility improvements They have already spent several million of our tax dollars on marketing and printing signs to put on every street corner of a city that is 129 square miles. (Simple math states that this is a ton of money).
The school boards actually are running our country, and they have been infiltrated by Marxists for years as was foretold by many years ago.
