It is heartbreaking to see all the devastation that the hurricane left behind. Discrimination is never ok. It is so upsetting to think that the government used FEMA money for the illegal aliens. Yet we send billions of dollars over to the Ukraine. Did you know they are paying the Ukrainians pensions? I just have no words to describe the feelings I have for what has happened under the Biden Harris administration. Trump went down to the survey the hurricane damage and spent money on aid for the victims.

I just pray that Trump is protected. Our country needs his help to make this country great again.

It just shows that the Biden-Harris Administration has been concerned all along about non-citizens than they have their own people. While MSM and the Democratic Party can act surprised that they lost the election earlier this week, they have nobody to blame but themselves. They literally turned their backs on and betrayed their own people.

What's been so infuriating with the current administration is how powerless we have felt to stop the government, DHS and DOJ in particular, from doing such evil deeds using OUR money, while ignoring the plight of actual citizens affected by the hurricanes, train derailments, etc. Hoping Trump and his team can right the ship we're on. Praying that Trump makes good decisions about whom he includes in his administration and that they are able to cut out the rotten parts of the bureaucracy.

I count it as probable that, if civilizational order is preserved in years to come, Mayorkas and Garland will be described among the esteemed community of federal bureaucrats with that generic term, "public servant." And if by "public servant" one means "corrupt, hyper-partisan tyrant," I would say, yes, the term applies.

Perhaps Trump could let RFK Jr, to whom Mayorkas denied Secret Service protection, relay the message that a) he's fired, and b) he shouldn't wander off too far just yet.

Just like with the fire in Lahaina...a completely unpredicted and unusual event, that caused significantly more damage than a normal natural disaster, aided in part by a completely incompetent (and perhaps malicious?) response from local/Federal officials! And then, as now, an almost complete media blackout on the aftermath!

(And both locations are extremely valuable, for different reasons, but are now completely uninhabitable for the most part, and the people who lived there are being offered a mere pittance...what a "coincidence")

I was told that evidently, in those beautiful mountain, hillside towns that have been completely destroyed- & yes, I agree, storms that “seem unnatural” in these areas of NC, there “might be” Lithium ? My Daughter is on a web site where many folks can their own food, a food canning web site (Rebel Canning); there was conversation about some folks were approached by “an outsider”, or “outsiders”, wanting to see if folks who live in areas of this horrible storm/water surge, wanted to sell their property. Almost like the wildfires in Lahaina, Maui? Developers approaching town folks to inquire about purchasing properties? I have not researched for data about any Lithium field(s) in NC, but there may be a possibility there may be truth to this?

Expand full comment

I have read of massive lithium deposits in that part of NC. Also that the Feds will not give landowners permits for tiny houses or campers while they try to rebuild. It is pathetic and we need Myorkis REPLACED and in prison before he can do more harm. This entire situation, in Lahaina and NC is infuriating.

Expand full comment

Very frustrating to hear our own agencies will not allow citizens permits to bring in RV campers, or even let landowners build a Tiny house- that would be a wonderful way to get started on rebuilding towns, obviously! Crooked government !

Here’s an article that might shed some light (I also haven’t researched, but this is plausible):

Quote:

DOD has the technology to control the weather. This certainly was not the first time.

Last year, the Department of Defense entered a ninety-million-dollar agreement with Albemarle Corporation to increase domestic production of lithium for the nation’s battery supply chain. Specifically, from Kings Mountain, North Carolina starting by 2025.

This is the same area experiencing what is being described as biblical floods.

Very sad indeed! How can we bring this out in the open? Seems like the citizens in the devastated areas don’t want to speak about this, & they are probably terrified. Statist logic. People don't have a home to live in due to flood damage. Winter is coming and folks are living in travel trailers and tents. They clean up their homes so they can rebuild.

STOP.

You must get permission from some bureaucrat to provide yourself shelter. Insane.

I get the idea buildings should be safe but a lot of those buildings had existed for decades or longer. Now they suddenly have to meet 2025 standards. Let the people who own them decide if they want the government seal of approval. If not, just get out of the way so folks can survive.

Expand full comment

In the wake of Ian, 2022, many of the homes destroyed on Sanibel and Fort Myers Beach must be rebuilt to current standards. However, insurance companies are not paying what it costs to rebuild to current specifications, but only what rebuilding to original standards would cost. This has driven many residents out of their homes, and forced them to sell to developers or incomers, changing the entire character of the towns.

Expand full comment

Many insurance companies offer insurance coverage for required building code upgrades at an additional cost. Otherwise many buildings will not be restored due to current building code requirements and end up being torn down.

Expand full comment

In effect, the decision to rebuild is taken out of the owner's hands. The moral question is whether society is better off with an empty lot or a home.

Expand full comment

In this case the 6 storey building was demolished and a 2 storey office building put up to replace it which was strange as it was in the downtown core and surrounded by much taller buildings. Personally from being in the building design business I hate many of the new code requirements that add cost burden onto the construction of new buildings without acheiving any great improvement in society. Items such as insulated metal cooler panels having to pass a flame spread rating (Plus $5000 CDN), handicapped door operators (Plus $3000 CDN each) when a simple manual door will do, gray water heat recovery heat exchangers (Plus $2000 CDN) Upping fresh air ventilation rates in Apartment buildings (Plus $500 to $3000 CDN per unit) for formaldehyde cooking fumes when using a stove, etc.

FRED? You mention "new code requirements" - do you know if the "INTERNATIONAL CODE COUNCIL" is behind this?

Expand full comment

I copied the following from a web search. A similar process to what building codes in Canada do (where I live).

Each of the model code organizations conducts at least two public hearings a year. At the first hearing, a committee made up mostly of building officials hears testimony and receives substantiating evidence on published code change proposals. Each code change proposal receives one of four recommendations from this code changes committee: 1) recommendation for approval, 2) recommendation for approval with revisions, 3) recommendation for disapproval, or 4) recommendation for further study. Committee recommendations and challenges opposing these recommendations are considered and acted on by all voting members at the annual business meeting.

Once the last of our elderly rescue horses passes away, my wife and I are moving to a place we have on a Virginia river exactly 100 feet from high tide. Floods several times a year. Been there with water up over the so called bumper on my car.

Our future permanent home was built in 1976. This area has had formerly European people building homes here since the 1600's. It has always flooded. Always will. You adapt and adjust. No set of government rules is going to change the reality of nature. I'll take the few days of flooding for the serenity the river provides. Just leave me alone.

I have a relative who legally rebuilt a couple of houses one exterior wall at a time in Ontario. It took extra time however he didn't have to demolish the house and start from scratch which his mortgage company would not allow in any case (loss of value of the property when the original house comes down).

I spend may hours working out similar work arounds for customers.

What kind of home insurance will not rebuild the home? regardless of building code upgrades?

All municipalities in the US and Canada require a builder file for and obtain a building permit. Plans are reviewed to the Current building code in effect and any exemptions. For example a 1920's house did not require insulation but in 2024 they do. The extra cost of the insulation however is offset by the lower cost of constructing stud+ brick wall instead of 2 course brick plus strapping plus lathe + plaster. In the commercial building I described their principal problem is the poured concrete 6 storey building had a single stairwell which is not permitted anywhere that I know of in a building accessed by the public by today's codes.

I did a report once about 15 years ago for an insurance company on what to do with a fire damaged century building. As is usual it was next to impossible to save the building due to mandatory building code upgrades so it got demolished. As an interesting side note the arsonist was an unhappy victim of the 6th floor lawyers office and carried two containers of gasoline up to the office and spread it around.

Foolishly he lit it up not realizing the huge explosion would engulf him too. He lived though.

Not surprised that this crossed my desk - heard about the FEMA fiasco yesterday, had a hard time believing until I chased it down my self - there needs be more than a "mea culpa," "I’m sorry," or even someone(s) relocated/transferred/fired, this has to be a criminal action; anyone who was "damaged" by this senseless act of discrimination needs to be held liable before the law AND if someone’s life was threatened or worse because of this malfeasance …

Anyway, as much as I was horrified by this action(s), I was also not surprised - I think it sums up the whole Biden/Harris debacle. My one regret is that this wasn’t reported until AFTER the election - that world’a could’a made for a wonderful October Surprise.

Thx Malones for closing with the info about Samaritan’s Purse - they’ve been a consistent recipient of the blessings God has bestowed on me for nearly a decade. Even tho the Samaritan’s Purse home town of Boone, NC was amongst those devastated by Helene (including their HQ I believe), Samaritan’s Purse has been on the vanguard of helping others. On another note: Speaking with MSNBC on Wednesday, Massachusetts Governor Maura Healey said her state would not comply with the incoming Trump administration in assisting with deportations of illegal immigrants. "But let me say this, I do think it's important that we all recognize that there's going to be a lot of pressure on states and state officials, and I can assure you, we're going to work really hard to deliver."

"Some realities also need to be, you know, noted, and that is, in 2016 we had a very different situation in the courts. And, well, I'm sure there may be litigation ahead. You know, there's a lot of other ways that people are going to act and need to act for the sake of their states and their residents. There's regulatory authority and executive powers and the like. There's legislation also within our state."

"I think that the key here is that, you know, every tool in the toolbox has got to be used to protect our citizens, to protect our residents and protect our states, and certainly to hold the line on democracy and the rule of law, as a basic principle."

A report from the Center for Immigration Studies revealed that the state is facing a "fiscal time bomb" over the number of illegal immigrants that have been allowed into the state, with the state paying hundreds of millions on housing and welfare programs for illegal immigrants.

When does the stealing of funds from Americans in such need become treasonous? There has been overwhelming evidence of insurrection by mayorkis and biden/harris. We have experienced the most corrupt, hateful, anti-American, administration in the history of the United States. The Biden-Harris tag team, are filled with habitual liars, and they deceived millions in believing that “democracy is at stake” and that their rights will be taken away, especially their degenerate desire to kill unborn children, who are separate individuals needing care and comfort inside momma’s womb.

Representative Raskin stated earlier this year that if Trump wins, Congress will need to invoke section 3 of tge 14th Amendment, and declare him “disqualified” to be president—even if it causes a civil war. A “Google” search claims he never “said” that Trump would not be certified—correct, but the lying deceivers know that disqualifying him as President IS an act of NOT certifying him. See the link below about the 58 minute mark. https://m.youtube.com/watch?v=3If_fz8GatQ&t=2s&pp=2AECkAIB

Mayorkas’ name will be equated with the likes of Benedict Arnold, and no amount of lies will change that fact—this generational curse on his family name will be on him and him alone. Our foreign enemies could not do to America, what this administration and the Democratic Party did in four years. We may never fully recover from this attack upon our nation, but we will indeed try. That’s what Patriots do!

I pray for two things.

1. That America will do a deep look into its heart and its behaviors, and confess to God that they were wrong and sinful, and then, in TRUE repentance, turn back to Him in ALL areas of life.

2. To show the fruit of turning back to God, I pray that the Democratic Party would go the way of the Dodo Bird, and end up on the ash heap of history.

If America has not learned its lesson, then it will eventually be destroyed. But there’s Hope—God always gives us hope! In the book of Micah, God pronounces judgment on Judah three times—BUT—at the end of each statement of judgement, he gives them hope IF they repent from rejecting Him and adopting the pagan culture around them. KNOW the warning of judgment, but heed the call to turn back to God—our ONLY Hope. 🙂

Come Quickly Lord Jesus!

There must be a way of tracking back to who the FEMA advisor was, who sent the discriminatory order. Then track back through the chain of command to find the originators. They need to be known in order to be held accountable. We read about so much corruption, but so often, there are no actors to attach the actions to, and therefore no way to shine a light at the root cause in order to take legal action and stop it. Also, without names and faces the public are left with an unclear impression that quickly fades. Without consequences what's the point in knowing this. I hope the incoming administration allows for more transparency.
