The “97% of scientists” graphic is so true.

I sat in on an engineering grad student orientation last August, and the Grad Chair wrote some text on a chalkboard and drew arrows that all led to “FED GOVT.”

He pretty much said it out loud that, “That’s who we work for.”

Expand full comment

It's a reference to climate change. The figure always given is that 97% agree with the consensus. To me the evidence about the maliciousness of the vaccine campaign is overwhelming and therefore my previous belief that 97% of climate scientists would not lie has been shaken, as I now realize a lot will just not question. But one does not make the other the truth. For that we need evidence that the 97% of climate scientists are wrong. And I I feel that it won't be found. There seems to be a coordinated campaign around Substack to say different.

Expand full comment

The 97% comes from a curated survey done by a grad student. She got 10,000 replies and selected the +\- 100 responses that allowed her to say “97%….”.

Dr. Malone is an empirical guy, as are most of the posse here.

As there are very few “who, what, when, where, why, how” journalists, inductive reasoning has been overtaken by narratives.

Funny stuff from the Doc.

As someone who has done post grad climate science I would say the figure is more like 100%. But once again that's just anecdote from me. Nobody questioned it the whole time that I was there.

Your thesis is basically

$ lied, hired every science department / researcher on Earth to say the same thing, product is bollocks. Proof? None offered.

On the other hand I can point out that Heartland, an org funded by the Kochs who have made a fortune in fossil fuels has so far funded just about every scientist denying that climate change is happening.

So I'd suggest something else;

Climate scientists became aware of a problem, $ became aware of that and figured that it could attach it to the great reset etc, result a clusterf*ck.

The main part of the climate scientists could still be wrong. The Great Reset crowd and all those who have taken on their agenda are definitely wrong and that includes the likes of Extinction Rebellion an astro-turfed org if I've ever seen one.

Your arguments though, if you have any, are simplistic.

Then you should be fully aware of the story that Antarctic ice cores are telling us. Climate change is not a phenomenon specific to man's habitation on earth. And the current cycle is not extraordinary. Does that mean we shouldn't do things to keep the atmosphere in its most natural state? No. But the micro-trends of today need to be placed in full context when formulating policy.

Expand full comment

The planet is warming as we move out of an inter-glacial. I would say that's unusual. What the ice cores indicate is that climate has changed in the past roughly at 120k years ago, 3m years ago & 60m years ago. With the current stable period of 10k years (the Holocene) somewhat unusual in regards to sea levels for example.

Cheers. Pseudoscience is not just vaccines it seems. The Germ theorists seem to think they can expound on climate science as well.

My priority concern is not climate change blame at this point.

Yep as I said. Simplistic. You've offered nothing but unsupported argument. Late here, night.

Look harder. If you have not already then take the time to read the IPCC reports and work with the current climate model. What MSM and governments claim to be true is exaggerated well beyond the certainty level of the data available (and yes I have read the IPCC reports, along with many more peer reviewed papers on the topic and worked with the climate model myself - the professor I studied under happened to be one of the many authors of the IPCC report). What 'MS' states below is something you might also want to consider (surely you are aware of this if you have done 'post grad climate science'). Geologic history spans 4.6 billion years, and the direct climate records we have are limited to less than 200 years. The 'narrative' that claims many problems we are experiencing today are due to 'climate change' can be demonstrated to be false if you look just a little closer. Are we experiencing warming? Yes, and anthropogenic activities certainly have contributed. However, we do not know by exactly how much, and the vast majority of the 'solutions' proposed in fact make the situation MUCH worse when considered in their entirety. Also, as I am sure you must be aware when scientists first began to 'model' climate they realized very quickly that this was an extremely complex topic with multiple negative and positive feedback loops and tipping points that would need to be considered. You must have worked with this model? The thing about modeling real world phenomenon is that the more complex the model becomes the less reliable it is. After many reiterations and adding of various factors we are left with a climate model that is extremely complex (much like the famous 'epidemiology' covid spread models produced by Neil Ferguson - you know the ones that were SO WRONG they were a joke!). Climate 'alarmists' have been warning about these effects for decades now - yet their predictions have not come to pass. I suspect this is largely for 2 reasons that are related: First, modelling climate and the many complex systems that ultimately contribute to it is extremely difficult (it is presumptuous of us to think we have really got it correct - in fact the predictive capability of the model is not very good at all). Second, if you look into the history of how the model was developed what you find is that it is not a case of independent scientists all independently coming up with the same thing. Although science ideally would work this way, it unfortunately in reality is fairly incestuous, with one science group looking at what seemed to work for another and adding it in as they go. Do this enough times and pretty soon everyone has the same conclusion - so they are either all correct or all wrong. What is the likelihood, given the complexities of each factor that has been added to this model that there is something in it that is not correct? I'll tell you it is very high and the authors of the IPCC - those that I have spoken personally to - both know it and admit it. Have you ever noticed that you do not hear directly from the top 'climate scientists' that have written these reports, but rather from politicians making bold claims, claims that are not found within the report itself? (Also I have heard complaints that 'conclusions' of the report are 'altered' - which might explain why the conclusion does not always seem to logically follow from the data alone! - This has also occurred within peer reviewed medical literature since covid began.)

Thanks. One of my biggest concerns is that some billionaire idiot like Gates gets the catastrophic idea in his head that climate 'geo-engineering' is a good plan! Midday Saturday here, I am heading out for a few hours. I'm sure we disagree on some points above. Others we agree on. Can't quite see what bought on your 500 words tbh.

Expand full comment

Understandable - get some fresh air while they let you right? As you suggested given the fiasco that is covid people have started to question the climate narrative more (on Substack). I agree that they should, but should do so with a balanced scientific approach. You said "we need evidence that the 97% of climate scientists are wrong. And I I feel that it won't be found". I disagree - these models, and the actions taken as a result of the 'climate narrative' will eventually be shown to be the wrong path (just as is the case with the 'vaccines' saving us from covid). I have found that in each scientific field I have had exposure to at the lower levels there is 'consensus', but when you delve deeper into it you find that it is highly controversial. Real science occurs at the fringe due to the peer review process. If you are in academia and go against the grain you are either a genius or finished, or perhaps both. Galileo spent the last decade of his life under house arrest due to this same phenomenon - yet it turns out he was right and the Earth is not at the center of our solar system. Can you imagine what would happen to anyone who made this claim at a science conference today? Yet back then it was heresy. Who knows what knowledge will be gained over the next century, we may find that there are many things we thought we had a full understanding of that we simply did not.

The Canadian government is dropping some pretty big hints about moving the goalposts for fully vaccinated to 3 doses soon. As it stands right now, that would instantly reduce the number of fully vaxxed people ages 12+ to 55%.

They're banking on most of the 45% of Canadians who have 2 shots or less to "do the right thing" and get shot number 3. I'm banking they're going to be very, very wrong. I think they'll be lucky to get the number of "under vaccinated" Canadians below 33%. Then what?

My hope is at that point we can cue the music for Justin Trudeau. It will be "Time To Say Goodbye"!

Isn't all humour politics by another name? And is Bill not a liberal?

I'd say let him go for it.

Expand full comment

I'm not sure it is. Once upon a time in America, a large number of ethnic jokes were 'stupid' jokes. A radio station in Cleveland featured an "ethnic joke of the day": they took an ethnic joke they heard about some segment of the population, and literally substituted the words "ethnic person" into to the joke so no one could tell. Another approach was to turn ethnic jokes into "blonde jokes" so they were less offensive. When blondes justifiably objected to being turned into 'dumb blonde' jokes, those jokes went away too.

At the end of the day, Bill Maher can - and will - do as he pleases - and I'm fine with that. He's a smart enough man to recognize the issue, and the current reality may be that American audiences want their comedians to take sides.

Once upon a time, our politics wasn't so polarized. The politicians have forced all of us into this, as both political parties seem to be catering to those farthest from the middle. Suffice it to say, we live in interesting times.

Those are some great funnies again. The Bill Maher one had me belly laughing. It is sad but true. The parent in the helicopter saving his kid from public education hit spot on. We put our younger two children in a charter school. One of the reasons was that they were not teaching phonics in the public schools. They were teaching sight words only. My son was struggling to read. So we pulled him out of public school and put him in a charter school. They have a great curriculum . My husband was a founder and on the school board for 8-9 years. The moral standards at the school were taught starting in kindergarten. You are responsible for your homework not your parents was one of the standards. The common core math they are forcing on the kids is ridiculous .

The information they are trying to indoctrinate our kids with in public schools is downright scary. I live in a red state so we don’t have as much problems as in the blue states. I have a niece in California that is homeschooling her kids. The sex education in California is so perverted.

My husband says that quote from Animal Farm every time he hears the news. Life in the world is upside down with Evil being called Good and Good being called Evil.
