There’s an enormous abundance of tax free money to be made in the manufacture and sale of illegal drugs. To sustain the business protection from investigation and enforcement is helpful. In many mafia type of businesses protection from investigation and enforcement is achieved by establishing partnerships with government officials.

I’ve often wondered why the United States sent our military into Afghanistan. Before our presence there the religiously strict Taliban had effectively shut down the production of opium. With our involvement the production was resumed and protected. The availability of fentanyl and cocaine may have softened the demand and income from opioids.

I’ve often wondered where the CIA obtains funding for clandestine operations.

Too true, but how do we as a country control the flow of those illegal funds and the poisons that produce them when it's happening in another country, exempt from our forms of justice?

Most people in the US are completely unaware of the threat posed by Canada in this issue, preferring to always blame Mexico.

probably a rhetorical question but I can't help offering an opinion.

-- The USA needs to have different rules for OUS entities-- countrys, triads, terrorists. Our convictions proven with a HAMMER.

-- Those rules being about 100x more punitive and covert.

-- The world should be made aware by actions taken and not directly attributable. (Nordstream for example.)

. . . not saying Nordstream was correct to do though.

OR, the CIA, DoD, and State Dept are actually clueless. They would like to believe they are so smart since they have so much "intelligence" on a country but, actually have no clue what their injection of outside violence will do.

Upsetting the balance of power in any country makes it ripe for chaos; chaos is NOT predictable; NOT controllable by an outside power.
