My family went west. We have a family farm. My mother always had a garden and canned. Ground her wheat and made bread. We had cattle. Lots of them. We also had a milk cow. I loved milk from the cow. Mom would strain it through cheese clothe. Then I would drink the warm fresh milk. We would scrape the cream off the next morning. My mom sewed my clothes. She made us girls dresses and suits and pant suit. I always had a homemade Easter dress with a hat and gloves, and shoes . All was not lost coming west . We brought those skills with us.
Yes it was a simple hard working life. Sweeter times. The world has gone crazy but I still have my children, grandchildren and now a great granddaughter and a great grandson on the way.
