I’ll refer you to Dustin Hoffman’s scene in Hero where he schools his son on selecting the layer of bullshit he’s comfortable in since there’s not an option for truth. While I believe that absolute truth is real it is, for many reasons of fallibility and even corruption, absent in politics making compromise a ubiquitous necessity. Therefore, if this the layer you’re comfortable with by all means proceed.

Perspicacious theologians such as Francis Schaefer predicted where leaving God’s Word as truth would lead us. In the absence of absolute truth we are left at the mercy of social utilitarianism and adrift in a sea of relatively without an anchor or a compass. Hence infinite layers.
