As recent studies have placed nearly 75% of Americans as unhealthy or obese it’s hard to not see the link between big food big pharma and the big medical establishment. It’s critical we start seeking alternative clean foods. I really look forward to RFK Jr.’s attempt to straighten this crooked merging of these three trillions of dollar industries. At the same time I am concerned for his safety.

I also am so happy RFK, Jr. is going to “wake America up” to this horrendous & serious situation in the food manufacturing & grown wheat, vegetables, & possibly fruits. I know Big Farming won’t be happy with RFK, Jr., & pray he will be safe in his journey to help families make better decisions for their children & processed foods!

I've been wondering for a while whether the obesity epidemic was brought by the widespread use of antibiotics after 1950.

Antibiotics disrupt the microbiome, causing dysbiosis. Could a lifetime of gut dysbiosis cause obesity? Has anyone looked into this?

I believe eating fermented foods has been helping me on my journey since I had intestinal surgery this past May- I lost a portion of my upper intestines due to “holes in specific areas” of my intestines. ER doctor told me I have Diverticulosis, which I believe pouches burst, causing a disaster in my gut/stomach, etc. I don’t know what caused the holes in my intestins’- but, I’m sure part was my diet, & the other possible cause could have been antibiotics taken for different infections. So, I’m working on a healthier menu of clean foods, & rebuilding my inner Biome !

Inflammation is a likely culprit, Patricia. Apparently lactobacillus reuteri decreases intestinal inflammation and helps repair gut mucosa.

You might look for a probiotic that includes L. reuteri. I take a probiotic to maintain health, and always now make sure it includes L reuteri in the mix.

The largest consumers of antibiotics are factory farms. A primary function is to keep them alive through horrid living conditions, but it also fattens up the animals faster. Exactly as you mention, antibiotics disrupt the normal digestion process.

I would assume it has a similar impact on humans. And humans may also get some second hand antibiotics from the factory farmed animals they eat.

James, I want RFK to know that WE can help. Here’s how: he, as head of the HHS writes letter(s) to us. Every American gets a letter addressing the food poisoning of the moment (say food dyes). He explains the risks, provides the proof, and lists examples ( Fruit Loops, Gummy Bears, Doritos etc). Then he encourages us, average Joe Citizen, to share this with our grocer or wherever we shop and if we have school children, with the school lunch manager. Our request is that they either pressure the mfg to remove that poison OR find an alternative supplier that has products that don’t contain those ingredients . This is a bottom up approach to changing an establishment that will almost certainly fight back. There has to be top down regulations, admittedly, but a bottom up, consumer driven demand will reduce the inevitable friction this earth shattering change in the status quo is going to cause. Most of us live in small enough communities (even within cities) where we KNOW our grocer, we know some of our farmers, they are neighbors. Imagine getting hundreds of these letters from your customers. It would be a powerful motivation to move away from damaging food and toward a healthier substitute. And where money goes, so go producers.

I no longer buy anything from my big box store. Even the fresh produce and meats are contaminated. It would be very very good to see that change. How long would it take. One growing season. That’s it. By next summer we could be glyphosate free, dye free, mRNA free, and so much more!

We have been buying organic flour to make baked goods. We have also bought organic wheat to grind to make whole wheat bread. I like a mixture of white and wheat bread. It is easier on the stomach and bowels. I’m excited to see what RFK Jr is going to do to make our food supply, water, and pharmaceuticals healthier. Also getting rid of the chem trails. Thank you so much for this! I am happy to hear that in America organic food is becoming more and more popular. And I am pretty sure RFKjr as your new Health Secretary will push this which makes me even happier! I this context I am lucky to live in Austria. I am totally used to buying and eating organic food from my teenage years on (more than 30 years back). And, in the meantime, I am used to recognize what is real organic food, because not everything marked as organic is organic. In Austria, similar to Italy, we have a very high standard and strict control for what is organic food, based on national regulations. The EU standard for organic food is not that high, why I prioritize Austrian or Italian and then Spanish organic food before e.g. German organic food, although Germany is very near which is important because I buy only seasonal organic food which did not travel too long to make sure that it is as fresh and as rich as possible. I remember that you mentioned that your "diet" includes meat. Especially when you eat meat it is crucial that this meat is organic meat with as little (industrial) processing as possible in order to keep the meat nutritious. We have the saying that we eat meat only from "happy cows" (or chicken etc). I feel that the most organic food made with love might be the own grown food. So, whatever is possible, I can only recommend getting involved and growing something at home, be it in a small or large garden, in a pot on your balcony, terrace or windowsill. Gardening not only provides you with healthy food, but also increases your general well-being. And for this, please already use organic seeds! Happy gardening/farming and bon appétit!

The food with perhaps the worst record of contamination is surely beer. The Barley grains are boiled in large quantities, and it is the liquid that forms the beer; yet no one seems to talk about that. We need a strong message to go out for the full introduction of fully organic beer.

That anyone says "Yawn" to this serious use is deluding themselves. Glyphosate is found in the water, air and soil. Zach Bush M.D. talked about this years ago and travels the world to educate farmers. This is no small issue. I use organic flour from Italy called Einkorn because of its low gluten index and it's not been hybridized. They also have various kinds of pasta from the same wheat and varieties of organic beans in glass instead of cans, as well as organic tomatoes and saucesin glass. (Jovial is the company I order from) I buy in bulk for discounts. Now to tell my son about the comment on beer. I have found one organic beer, for the summer.

What a huge number of studies of glyphosate! And the corrupted FDA ignores them all. We need a law prohibiting the application of poisons to foodstuffs. And then we need someone to enforce it. We consumers have been forced to rely on the "organic" label and sometimes the "non GMO" label. What we need is a "zero poison" label.

Good point. Corporatism has become a form of government where every govt action needs to be paid for by taxes. That's why there is no one to monitor poisons in our food supply. And, of course, if we were payng taxes, they would be appropriated to another use (like lining the pocket of Mr. X).

This is a significant article to definitely share, & I really appreciate this post. There needs to be dramatic changes in the way our foods are grown (obviously), & manufactured! I’m very happy RFK, Jr. is on a mission to make more American’s aware of the dangerous chemicals that are in so many processed foods; therefore, I truly hope more & more people start reading food labels; read labels for hair products, cosmetics, lotions, toothpaste, over-the-counter medicines! There are many chemicals used in a boat-load of products, & having RFK, Jr. already making a difference, because Big Farming is going to lose money once people realize what they ingest & use in or on our body, MATTERS 100%! Yes, my Daughter & I read every label, & make sure to buy clean ingredient products! We are learning to do without the garbage in our foods, & I pray more people get on the band-wagon & learn why children are always sick, or have Autism, or ADHD- & of course obesity! When you eat clean, & use clean products, we will all be healthier & I believe, live longer! But, it is time consuming to verify the ingredients & look out for the bad ones that are listed on labels, but it is so worth knowing what PEG-II is; what is Poly Sorbate 40-60-or 80? Why is it in pickles & ice cream? Olives have Poly Sorbate 60 or 80 in them; some Beef Tallow facial cream or lotions have Poly Sorbate 40 or 60 in them! It’s so disturbing to know the FDA doesn’t stop the use of so many chemicals in our foods & body products! Buy Organic, or find local businesses that are making “cottage foods or products” at home, that are clean, & then sell at local shops or craft fairs!

"Melatonin and glyphosate have a complex relationship, with glyphosate negatively affecting melatonin levels and melatonin potentially helping to alleviate the effects of glyphosate:

"Glyphosate and melatonin levels Glyphosate exposure can negatively impact melatonin levels in the brain, which can lead to oxidative stress and damage. Glyphosate can also alter molecules in the pineal gland, which can lead to neurodegenerative diseases like Alzheimer's and Parkinson's."

First, NOT disputing the "science." Second, applying glyphosate to desiccate crops is kind’a kin to using meds to induce birth solely for convenience. Because we can doesn’t always mean that we should. But, and to me, this is a big BUT (minds out’a the gutter, I said "but," not "butt." Children, 🙄) maybe inducing desiccation is quasi necessary? We’re now feeding 330M people in the USofA, alone - Lord knows how many billion more around the globe. Does the use of glyphosate increase the risk of "disease" more than the known effects of starvation? Further, if the greater risks involved with glyphosate arise in those folks who live on what’s available on the shelves/coolers/freezers found in the middle of the grocery, it seems to me those people have greater risks to their health than the contaminant.

We’re now licensing marijuana dispensaries even tho we’re learning that pot/weed is actually not good for your health (something many of us have known for ages). What I’m getting at is I don’t worry about these small risks when we knowingly impact our health with worse harms. Now, as one who needs a map to find the interior of a grocery - other than my boxes of non Chai-Nah produced tea and assorted hard cheeses (and Lactaid cottage cheese), if you told me the trace amounts of glyphosate I might come across were making me fat — then I’ll sit up and listen very closely.

Good grief, we’re now injecting ourselves with very expensive drugs all in the hope it’ll achieve what our drastically weakened arm muscles have failed to do; push away push away push away. Ya’know, maybe I SHOULD get on the ban glyphosate bandwagon - if it made the cost of food expensive enough that eating more than we need became more prohibitive.

That’s it - I’m done with my rant AND I’m done with my first solid meal of the day: fruit and homemade full fat yogurt
