Jonna Mazet of UC Davis enlisted the EcoHealth Alliance to serve as PREDICT's lead for collaborations with the Chinese, and she personally assisted the Chinese on developing their animal-handling protocols. When in 2013 the Chinese published in _Nature_ that they had isolated and sequenced a SARS-like coronavirus from a Horseshoe Bat (collected from a cave in Yunnan province where two miners had died from a SARS-like infection), Mazet of UC Davis's One Health Institute was listed as a co-author with the Wuhan researchers along with Peter Daszack, Aleksei Chmura, and Jonathan Epstein of the EcoHealth Alliance and an Australian government researcher:

According to EcoHealth whistleblower Andrew Huff (see his book _The Truth about Wuhan_ https://www.amazon.com/Truth-about-Wuhan-Uncovered-Biggest/dp/1510773886 ), PREDICT wasn't really about predicting pandemics from zoonotic crossover pathogens, its real purpose was to collect candidate viral sequences for later performing gain of research on behalf of the US intelligence community. EcoHealth later submitted a DEFUSE grant proposal to DARPA to do exactly that. While DARPA had the good sense to say no, the work was performed anyways. The SARS-CoV-2 virus was bioengineered starting with the natural Yunnan coronavirus collected under the PREDICT agreement and modifying its genome using techniques developed by Ralph Baric of the University of North Carolina and transferred to Wuhan with the help of EcoHealth and funding from the Fauci's branch of the NIH, namely the NIAID, and from the Defense Threat Reduction Agency (DTRA). The Chinese cited the NIAID grant in some of their later papers, since they were a subawardee of EcoHealth.
The bioengineering of the Yunnan virus using Baric's method involved a substitution of the spike protein binding region (the source of that sequence is less clear; possibly from a pangolin; EcoHealth's staff in New York oddly enough included a leading pangolin expert from China) and a furin cleavage site, followed by repeated passaging of the viral constructs in humanized cells _in vitro_ (essentially an accelerated evolution of the viruses) to select for maximal human infectivity. The Orwellian "One Health" phrase in fact refers to a series of research projects and technology transfers funded by various federal agences aiming at promoting pandemics (and promoting forced administration of their mRNA "vaccines"), not whatever word salad the UN attaches to it.
