Isn’t it something that when conservative American citizens spoke up on Twitter, Facebook, Parlor, and or school board meetings and were censored, harassed, jailed, put on terrorist lists, like good communists do, the ACLU (and let’s face it the whole Democrat party) was nowhere to be found, what 1st amendment? But when a Syrian, Columbian University student here on a student visa spouts off to kill the Jews, assaults Jewish students, disrupts an entire school year, doesn’t allow Jewish students to go to class, leads encampments on school property and destroys school property the ACLU is up in arms to free the Syrian that hates America and the west. A person here on a student visa is a guest. It is a privilege to be here and if for any reason, for which there are plenty, a guest can be sent back to their home country. Mahmoud Khalil is the leader of these protests that many times with his bullhorn shut down Columbia University. Universities are not places to protest, they are places to learn. If he applied for his visa explaining his intention of what he did he would have been denied his visa to come to America and attend one of the most prestigious colleges in the world. So Mahmoud bon voyage, adios, sayonara, have a safe trip trip back to Syria or wherever you end up!!! J.Goodrich

Maybe to young to remember all the iranian students, many self-proclaimed communists, blocking roads and college campuses shouting "death to the Shah", the same Shah on whose dime many if not most were spending here. We have a bad habit of handing out student visas to very bad actors.

When we booted the Shah, the Ayatollah sure looked good? My Iranian friends were all sent to India and then here. Their father was a poet, mother a nurse, and could see the writing on the wall. They knew the danger and were right on. These people I knew were very happy about their citizenship here, even tho they were unable to visit their families without fear of retribution. They also preferred "Persian", I think it reminded them of the way it was when Persians were more highly esteemed for their culture.

Excellent post James! I will never forget how ostracized I was during those years! Just watched the protestors being removed from the Trump Tower today , but will anything happen to them ? I wouldn’t bet on it! It breaks my heart to see people who HATE America be allowed to stay if they are here on Visas as our guests and break our laws! Well, guess I got off topic there, but I still remember what I and many others suffered for just wanting the truth.

Except Khalil didn't do all that stuff you say. I've seen him in interview, and he was a basic protestor, and then there was the federal abduction and no evidence of anything at this time. The administration removed Jewish students claiming it was for their safety, but bear in mind there are a lot of Jewish students who are also pro-Palestine there. Explain that.

He was called the leader of these demonstrations. He spoke on campus with a bullhorn, I saw him, he promoted a terrorist group Hamas, he disrupted and helped shut down students ability to complete their semester of a college that costs 70,000 dollars a year. Someone that is privileged enough to be allowed a student visa, a green card, does not have constitutional rights to do all the things I just mentioned. There is a very narrow line by which they can be thrown out of this country. As I said a college campus is not a place for foreigners in a student visa to protest. Don’t we have enough brainwashed Americans? Let me also mention, as many here know, I’m not a person that is for what Israel did and is doing in Gaza. Much the opposite.

Expand full comment

"he helped shut down students ability to complete their semester", I would see a place for a possible crime here, if I could see evidence of it. As I said, there are Jewish students participating in this, so it seems some things just wouldn't fly very well. As far as supporting Hamas... 1) They're resistance against a brutal and illegal occupier (since 1967), and 2) Like the Israeli defense minister said, "Hamas is an idea", and 3) people are labeling pro-Palestine as pro-Hamas, which doesn't leave any way to be pro-Palestine.

His participation in protests as a student on a visa, by which the schools semester was shut down is cause for expulsion and deportation.

If there are never consequences for any ones behavior, ever, are we living in a country of laws? Or is this anarchy? It seems the left, and the ACLU wants to use the constitutional and the 1st amendment as a weapon but only when it suits their anti American agenda. Haven’t we been seeing them and the democrats destroying our country from within for long enough or it won’t be enough until this country is null and void?

Deporting a US citizen for protesting is illegal, and at this point, I doubt it's going to happen.

Who is the U.S. citizen? A green card doesn't give citizenship, so you can't possibly be talking about Mahmoud.

People that live here on a green card can be deported for what they do. If they promote violence, terrorism, or even take part in a demonstration that closes a university or causes destruction to that university they can be removed. They live here because of the generosity we give, he should have realized that his actions can put that in jeopardy.

It gives a person rights to permanent living and working the US. And according to the law on this, he's got to be doing something in the name of the Smith Act (to be aligned with the destruction of govt), and which is illegal, so this is how it works. When the DHS says that he was involved in activities "aligned with Hamas", then they say they have a case. But I still have to say, we don't have a law-related record for his activities prior to this, and he's been there for awhile. He recently got his PhD there at Columbia.

Wrong again Even permanent green cards come with conditions including registering with selective service and following all law. Green cards obtained though marriage are only conditional and carry additional obligations. People are playing very loose with the facts.

This is from Telegram:

Mahmoud Khalil case summary based on court records:

- Khalil is a native of Syria but a citizen of Algeria.

- He entered the US on a student visa in December 2022.

- He obtained lawful permanent resident status in November 2024.

- Khalil was notified of removal intention and detained on the evening of March 8, 2025 in New York City.

- He was then booked in New Jersey overnight, on March 9, 2025, and kept there for the duration of the day.

- That same day, on March 9, 2025, Khalil’s attorney filed the a habeas petition in New York, not New Jersey.

- Courts require for the petition to be filed where the alien is being held at the time of the filing, in this case, New Jersey. Khalil's (many) lawyers filed in the wrong jurisdiction...

- Khalil was then transferred to Central Louisiana ICE Processing Facility in Jena, Louisiana on on March 10, 2025, and he remains detained at that facility today.

- The correct jurisdiction for this matter is Louisiana.

- The New York judge who issued the emergency order had no jurisdiction to do so.

And this: Columbia University announces “multi-year suspensions, temporary degree revocations, and expulsions” for those involved in the violent takeover of Hamilton Hall.

Amazing what nearly half a billion in lost funding can do when you fail to act the first time. Expensive lessons learned the hard way.

And like Judge Napalitano said, there aren't any charges. All we have is allegedly "acting in alignment with Hamas". This guy is so much more clean and benign than what Israel supporters want him to be, it stands to be a disastrously failed detention.

I think they have every right to protest against the genocide of the Palestinian people being conducted by Israel. I think this makes it a case of ideological divide, between the Trump admin and the protestors, and this makes the detention a clear violation of the first amendment.

Wrong. It was a jihad launched against American students at an American university in an American city. Based solely on their religion.

All I am aware of at this point, after so many months of protests at Columbia, is that Apartheid Divest is demanding the school divest from Israeli interests. I don't have any paper trail of criminal acts, here. Khalil recently got his PhD at Columbia, and has been there all along.

The only basis I've seen so far for calling this criminal is to say that they are "aligned with Hamas (or terrorists)". You need to show me what's illegal, and you can't say pro-Palestine is terrorist. There is no violation of the Smith Act - there is no attempt to destroy the govt in that. Get back to showing us evidence of crimes committed, because if any such thing happens, then the authorities would be on it like flies on shi*.

Israel is running a large prison population - 5 1/2 million people under its command, since 1967, and they're brutal about it. I mean in the 20 years before Oct 7, the IDF killed 20,000 Palestinians, and jailed, tortured and raped thousands of others, and subjected the general population to harsh living conditions and rampant collective punishment. Under their command, half the pop of Palestine would have died from starvation without intl assistance.

People in the region commonly want the apartheid regime to end, and for Palestine to be given its statehood back, which is currently being blocked, single-handedly, by the US on the UNSC. If not for the US, Palestine would be a state.

Perhaps you haven't had the chance to see the enormous amount of evidence of all manner of crimes being committed by Israel at the UN, such as at the ICJ, or UN investigators, or the Human Rights Council, or outside of that, the reports by Amnesty Intl or Human Rights Watch, where they saying Israel is conducting genocide.

And I listen to Israeli finance minister Smotrich 6 months ago saying "We can cut the pop of Gaza to half in 2 years", and then moving on to showing real estate development plans for northern Gaza, which is the actual objective.

Expand full comment

They can't get their "statehood" back, because they never had it to begin with. Palistine was offered statehood at the same time as Israel, back in the 1940's, and they refused. And for the next several decades, they swore to destroy Israel. It's still happening. That doesn't mean Israel hasn't committed its own atrocities, but it does mean you don't know history.

So you play with fire sometimes you get burnt. And maybe not, we will see. In the case of media it is certainly ironic, as the legacy media is all part of the corporate system, which is certainly amply funded. Though I don't see wealth accumulation as the highest human goal, the ability to do it indicates a high overall ability and points to people of exceptional potential social value. FYI, Senator Schmitt, to date, there are ONE-MILLION-FIVE- HUNDRED-THOUSAND "NGO's" "Non-Governmental Organizations" active WITHIN the USA, FUNDED by U.S. TAXPAYERS via the U.S. State Department and USAID primarily. A MINORITY are legit - the MAJORITY are $$$$$$

laundering schemes of outright FRAUD.

The premiere "American" NGO is without doubt the innocuous sounding "COUNCIL on FOREIGN RELATIONS" - whose members are EMBEDDED in EVERY federal government Agency, Bureau and Department. For example, "CFR" members "embedded"in the BIDEN administration included: Joe Biden ( & his speech writer - Daniel Benaim ), Susan Rice, Antony Blinken, John Kerry, Alejandro Mayorkas, Jen Psaki, Janet Yellen, Michael Morrell, and Lisa Monaco -just for openers; in the U.S. Senate: Susan Collins, Amy Klobuchar, Jack Reed, Mark R. Warner, Sheldon Whitehouse and Dan Sullivan + Debbie Wasserman, William Cohen, Stephen Cohen, Gerald Connolly, Keith Ellison, Eliot Engel, Jane Harman, Seth Moulton ( to name just a few in the House); and of course, GEORGE SOROS*, all THREE Clintons, Michael Bloomberg, Larry Fink, + Big Banking, BIG business, 99% of academia, ditto ABC, CBS, NBC, MSNBC, CNBC, CNN, NPR & "Public" TV... again just for openers!

NOW, the embedded liberals, progressive, Socialists and COMMUNIST UN-ELECTED LOWER court "judges" are using power NOT granted them by the Constitution. Factually, only the Supreme Court is codified in the U.S. Constitution! The "lower" federal Courts were created by the US Congress, FUNDED by the US Congress - and under the jurisdiction (oversight) of the US Congress. HEY-HEY-HO-HO, Unelected Lower Court federal judges GOTTA GO!

Oh! Almost forgot to include CFR member - Stacy Abrams- who fellow CFR member Joe Biden

bestowed TWO BILLION US taxpayers dollars on his way out the door!

ALL the crooks embedded in the federal government need three things to happen to every one of them: FIRED, FINED, and JAILED.
