I encountered such a situation when a group I socialized with turned on me for being a concealed carry permit holder. In my own home at a lunch I was hosting no less! I was made to feel stupid and dangerous to humankind! Of course it was my fault for allowing myself to “feel” that way. But it is amazing how others in the group quickly be…

The best answer to the gun narrative is a question I heard from a female years ago. "How does taking away my right to defend myself make your life safer?"
My sister is anti gun. She said to me why would anyone need a gun? She lives alone and I said if someone broke through your door at 2am and you heard them walking down the hall towards your bedroom, wouldn’t it be nice to have a gun, point it at the door, and say come any closer and I’m going to blast you. I said the guy would turn and run out your door. Further she said she wanted to live in a safer country I said where and she said Switzerland. I sent her a link showing it’s one of the most armed countries in the world. People who serve are nearly forced to take their rifle home after discharged. Silence. Then she said she didnt want to talk about it. I love my sister BTW….
Comforting conclusions about guns as defense drawn from thought experiments like this can and do lead to unintended injury or death. Best know, for example, to an absolute certainty who is outside that door.
Agreed, but if someone smashes through my door at 2 in the morning and is heading in my direction I rather have a gun even if I don’t need it then need a gun and not have it. In many ways I look at it like a tool.
Of course it is a tool, an extension of yourself, and a potentially very dangerous one, particularly in the dark. Are you going to holler 'Friend or foe?' and give away your position. And shoot blindly at anything that comes near?

Great question Charles!! Maybe a warning shot? What do you think?
Well it is not quite 2am here yet, but I surrender....
😁👍 thank you I didn’t want to hurt anyone.
I’m out salting a parking lot so my house is an open canvas for crime. It’s 445 here
Cherish that thought. It'll do nicely to keep you awake ;-). (If you're still out there. Must be around noon back there by now.)
