It has been a long month of travel. The consequence is that at the moment I can hardly keep up with my life. Dates, time zones, airplane trips, speeches, conferences, people, faces, conversations - are all a blur. But finally, we are home. We have one trip to DC this week and then no more travel until end of February. Whew.
Jill, being Jill, has planned out what chores to tackle, what needs organizing, how to move forward on projects for the Malone Institute, big plans for 2024, and how to finish up the new book. As her mother used to say, “her eyes are bigger than her stomach”. But that is how she manages to squeeze in so much. I am pretty much focussed on getting through the day and “big thoughts”. Which is how I manage to stay ahead in my thinking - most of the time.
But we are both thankful for a break in the schedule.
And of course, there is always more farm work and horses to train- not to mention stalls to clean. Never a dull moment.
Christmas is coming and we are so unprepared! Friends, Kids and grandkids are visiting for Christmas. We also have parties to attend, presents to buy, a Christmas tree that is nothing more than a twinkle in the eye and we don’t have an ornament in sight!
What we do have is lots of cheer and joy. Dogs that are so glad we are home and facing the prospect of two months at home alone to write, share meals, find inner calm and plan for the 2024 year.
