Sunday. A persons mind is the most powerful tool when it comes to the direction in a persons life. It can take you to the depths of depression or to the heights of unimaginable success. In many ways this effects your health also. Talking to people lately it feels as though we have been faced with a government that is insisting on breaking us. At least today we still can make decisions that will effect us in positive ways. We all, including myself, have to start making these changes. Changes we know will not only help us, but will make subtle changes in our society. Today of coarse is Sunday, and I have started a list of calls and changes I WILL make and begin to make in this upcoming week. These changes will help my family and I financially, medically and mentally. From changing my phone service that will save us money and stop feeding an anti American business; make a schedule to exercise and stretch and sticking to it; writing a list of calls to make that I’ve been putting off; and finally making reservations for my wife and I to get away. These are just four accomplishments I will get done this next week to set my mind in a positive place. Hope you all have a positive Sunday. J.Goodrich

Thank you Terri, every day I wake, I make coffee, feed my dogs, and head out with them for a walk. I’m usually on the road around 430-530. I’ve had some of the best memories seeing wildlife and my dogs reaction. The other day we caught a buck crossing the road. Years back I had a dog we named Brandy. She was full of life and would follow me around and lay on my feet when I sat. When I walked her sometimes off leash if we came upon a muddy puddle I would tell her not to but she would sprint through it and get all muddy. She was my best friend and many times I think she was walking me. She ended up getting stomach cancer and eventually couldn’t keep anything down. My wife was mad at me for keeping her too long. The day before I put Brandy down we went to a big field where I walked them and played ball for one last time. To this day I still feel I let Brandy down. I prayed that my older brother might watch her until I see them both some day.

You didn't let Brandy down. She was blessed and lucky to be with you! You did the right thing to end her suffering. I'm sorry for your loss. I've been through it several times. It's heartbreaking. Grief is grief no matter the loved one, be they human or animal.

Been a vet for 34 years. Have helped hundreds of families say goodbye to their beloved pets. Please take heart, you were a great dog dad. Euthanasia is never an easy decision, but sometimes the greatest measure of love is letting go. Pets don’t sin, so they go to heaven! Rom. 8:20-21 says the creation wasn’t subjected to death on its own , but by our sin, and the creation will inherit the glory of the children of God!”That’s heaven!

Goodbye’s not the end!

The pain and sorrow finds a way to come and go. Thank God it goes.

I had a 2 1/2 year old Golden named Toby. His grand parents were Grand national field winners. Toby was a plug and play duck and goose retriever and the coolest dog we ever had. He was accidently hit by a car and they failed to stop. After much pain and surgical attempt, we had decided to remove his pain. Mine stayed longer. Feeling I let him down.

I’m so sorry Randall. There’s something about an animal that for some reason makes it harder. Maybe because they can’t speak. I’ve lost so many people and animals that were close to me,I know it may sound off, but Brandy had such a living personality even after 8 or so years it still upsets me. After she was gone we buried her and our male dog Colby next to the lake in NH. They both loved it there.

If you were so close to Brandy, she may have been a spirit that you know and love.

James, So special, these creatures are. Don't wait until you "crossover" they are available, remember. How could you let Brandy down, they can take on some of our illnesses and for certain the love for you is unconditional and forever. It is said that too much hanging on to grief can prolong the transition. See her in her most vital years, That is the way many appear in dreams, in their most vital years. My mother sure did to me and my son-34 was how she looked to both of us and my son was only 19 and could remember and recognize her youth. (She died at 76)

Consumer Cellular beat every other plan we looked at when we switched several years ago. 2 lines, unlimited, text, talk and 5 gig data that carries over each month whatever you don’t use. We always use wireless at home and work, so rarely do we need data. With all the state, federal, local taxes our bill is $50 a month. (Cell bill itself is only $40, this blasted tax collectors!)

My positive Sunday starts with my church family. It sets the tone for the week to come. I'm grateful to God for our pastors, and their commitment to faithfully preach the uncompromised Word of God (franklinheights.org). After a relaxing meal with friends, I look forward to completing my "day of rest", usually catching up on my reading, and potentially falling asleep in my comfy chair.

I can also heartily recommend Pastor Gary Hamrick of Cornerstone Chapel in Leesburg, VA.

Adam & Eve were the first ones to ignore the Apple terms and conditions.

The problem isn’t that obesity runs in your family. It’s that no one runs in your family.

Expand full comment

That's funny, but gives an undeserved "nod" to the false "calories in, calories out" hypothesis. You don't cure obesity with exercise.

Expand full comment

Your comment reminds me of a Chris Rock routine. It's from the 90s so is a little dated:

"Too much food in America! We’ve got so much food in America, America is the only country in the whole world that makes people feel bad for being fat. The only country in the whole world. People are starving all over the world. You’re fat some place else, people are like: “Damn, how did you do that?"

Expand full comment

That's one persoective. Historically, fat women were associated with fertility. "Rubenesque" women were in style back in Ruben's era.

That said, however, obesity is a little too much "of a good thing", i.e. excess potential chemical energy storage. Fat storage is controlled by hormones, but it is also related to mitochondrial and metabolic dysfunction. Excess fat accumulation for winter is fine, but overdoing it means the body is not utilizing energy efficiently at the cellular level. Normally, weight is controlled within a set range and excess consumption just turns on the energy "wasting" uncoupled mode in the electron transport chain to burn it off. When the body is not functioning normally through nutrient deficiencies, toxicities, or senescence, energy metabolism is impaired and a balance can't be maintained.

Reminds me of a comedy skit, I think it was In Living Color, where a woman from Afghanistan was on Who Wants To Be a Millionaire, and the question she got was, "What is a condition where you always think you're too fat, and avoid food?" She acted really puzzled, like, "Who does that?" The tension was she could've done so much with the money she could've won if she got the correct answer, but she couldn't think of the answer, which was anorexia.

I do go for former things and driving out the rhinos! Like Folsum Prison n Clark's version. All told (having gotten back to Cash) my fav as of today is Prine. Thank you for the intro.

Great Pic of Dr Jill and NW. Spent most of yesterday watching the Brownstone affair. Dr AK's report of the shift in medical care from focus on the individual to focus on the greater good was chilling! Particularly as that is now reflected in justifications for assisted suicide. Adherence to Government recipies for care seems consistent. Not good!

I note Epoch is offering the tape of the Brownstone discussions for viewing. Your point about the attacks on us needing to be considered from a macro perspective needs to be well taken. The money, climate, food, etc issues are all parts of the pattern as well.

Delighted to see there will be coverage of your Fla meet next Saturday.

Sec of C = Sounds like "sexy"

Humornama.com: The expression “square root of (1 plus tan squared of C)” is mathematically equivalent to “sec of C”. This is due to the trigonometric identity that “1 plus tan squared of C” equals “sec squared of C”. When you take the square root of both sides of this identity, “square root of (1 plus tan squared of C)” is equal to “sec of C”. However, when spoken aloud, “sec of C” can sound like “sexy,” leading to a playful and unexpected connection between a dry mathematical concept and a casual, light-hearted term.

Fine, but who is going to explain what 'tan squared' is. Never heard of tan in that regard. Tan is something that happens to people with a decent amount of melanin when exposed to the sun. You wrote: The take home message that I get from this cartoon - is that we all have to get out and vote in the primaries, as well as general elections. It is in the primaries where we lose a lot of our conservative candidates - particularly in purple regions.
It is by getting out and voting, that things will change in the House and Senate.

💯🎯The importance of primaries cannot be overemphasized, especially in a red-state like Idaho where most people run and are registered Republican (R) but true conservatives often get knocked out of primary races. Some have tried running as Independents to bypass a crowded Republican field in the primaries, but the strategy hasn’t worked out for most. Many Rs are entrenched and nearly impossible to dislodge (not because they are good, but because they are entrenched).

Left-leaning Republicans are rapidly destroying education, conservative values, and fiscal responsibility in the state. Why is this happening in primaries? A few answers here:

1. Some cheating is happening for sure.

2. Left-leaning “establishment” Rs (of which there are many) smear the conservative Rs mercilessly and without facts, often with Democrat and big business backing (especially Big Pharma, Big Ag, Big Real Estate, and Big Tech collectively championed by IACI — https://www.iaci.org).

3. Many true Democrats register Republican and vote in Republican primaries for the least conservative R, who often turns out to be a Democrat in Republican clothing. This activity intentionally dilutes true conservative representation.

4. Many natives are clueless this is happening and newcomers are just relieved not to be living in the places they fled, so they ignore primaries.

Clinching the destruction could be a terrible ballot initiative for 2024 to create jungle primaries (aka open primaries) and ranked choice voting (see more at https://eolson47.substack.com/p/jungle-primaries-and-ranked-choice).

Fortunately, a mini-revolution has begun in the Republican Party of Idaho, led by now-Idaho GOP Chair Dorothy Moon and new leadership in the state’s largest Republican Central Committee (Ada County). It’s a Battle Royale for sure.

2022 was a prime example of many of your points. Both McConnell and McCarthy used PACs to undermine conservatives and the Dems cheated their way to victory again (AZ the prime example). In CO, they ran two fake R people in the R primary for SOS against Tina Peters, who was helping the Pillow guy. The winner was Pam Anderson who was on the board of Center for Tech and Civic Life, a 'non profit' funded by the Skoll Foundation, the Democracy Fund, the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation, and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund. This is the org that got $350m Zuck bucks. The Dem incumbent SOS won.

People lie, cheat and steal for no reason and no gain all the time. When given the chance to lie, cheat and steal for a “reason” they do it with gusto and in a state of euphoria. That is why the puppet masters spend more time with their naming conventions then the actual acts of deceit.
