Cable news was overrun with terroristic propaganda at the time, and the entire Democratic Party were drooling like gallows birds ovee the thought that Trump would be blamed for causing some COVID deaths by not deploying enough ventilators. When New Jersey's "opioid-free hospitals" racked up the second-highest per capita death rate by force intubation of patients without anesthesia and they bled to death getting cut by the ventilator tubes, NJ Governor Fats Christie managed to distract all attention away from his disaster, and suddenly all the Democrats shut up about ventilators.
That would be Phil Murphy not Crispy Cream. Yes, I believe it would have been a death by hysteria as was the fear porn compliance. Hysteria seems to win every time since common sense left the building decades ago.
