Merry Christmas everyone. It’s amazing how your memory seems to pick out specific thoughts from the past. I remember a long time ago as a kid coming home from a long walk on a snowy cold December day after a basketball game. I walked into our house and my mother, alone, was decorating the Christmas tree, the mantle and had put lights in the windows. It had already turned dark outside and I thought not only did my parents provide wonderful Christmases for their 4 children but they had given us our religion. Though both of my parents died when I was young they always taught us to be good to other people and to respect people which is imbedded in me. I really have a hard time with people that try to take Christmas away from us. I don’t see the good in it. Well I hope you all find some peace the next few days. Merry Christmas to you all!!! I agree. Unfortunately even way back then, people were complaining the real meaning of Christmas was being lost to commercialism. Charles Schultz had a fight with the Disney execs who wanted to delete Linus's bible passage from "A Charlie Brown Christmas". I can't imagine that show without the meaning and anchor that Linus gives it.

Remember when our Apollo astronauts, led I think by Frank Borman, circled the moon on Christmas Eve and took turns reading from the Bible? Just moving and exhilarating.

Could you imagine that happening today? We have lost so much. America is not now a better place. We need to take back our country and restore the values you both describe.

Imagine today, sadly.

Nice to cherish the past, as the Christmas days past were my best memories as well. My Mom always loved to decorate the house, & she was such a perfectionist! The table was decorated so beautifully, the tree had to be perfect, and Mom & Dad always cooked up a wonderful meal! We were so blessed, & respect was expected from all 3 of us children. I loved my childhood in the sixties, & grew up in sunny Sacramento, CA. Merry Christmas everyone!

Hi James.

Sent you,the photos of the Canadian border above Newport VT, where my wife and i have spent the last 2 days back and forth to, as my good buddy showed us a favorite food place, on saturday, and of course, we just had to go back again to.

Spent a few hours perusing one of the states largest hardware store as well, picking up a few things

Highlight of the weekend,

Besides awesome food and friendhips?

Our travels driving up there with my buddy, telling us stories about when his uncle took him up in his bi plane and he almost fell out in a barrrel roll, all at the age of 8.

Laughed all the way home imagining him in a Snoopy flying machine upside down, falling out.

We, the wife and I relished in shared memories of Christmas past with loved ones now all gone.

Heading home tomorrow, hopefully the weather is good, and no heavy Christmas day traffic.

Merry Christmas to all .

It snowed near canada, but it was all clear when we went up there, remnants on the roadsides.

Nothing by us.

I'm good with that.

I think that like humor, music will cut straight to truth. In that vein, one of my favorite pieces is Pachabel's Canon in D. When set to a Christmas hymn, "and sung by a children’s choir, that simplicity is elevated to something exquisite."

EXCELLENT, loved it. thanks!

I just bow my head and listen...my old guy lament is that I can't hear it in person, and long for those Christmas past where door to door caroling, and music, were more intimate than stadium filled events.

My favorite Christmas hymn- I have the CD, & play it over & over; brings tears to my eyes; my Mom loved this song.

Merry Christmas to you & Jill and your Clan! As an aside you mentioned the Epoch Times. I just discovered a few months back that Epoch Times was founded by the Falun Gong from China. Over 2 decades ago a group that were able to get out of China, as they are persecuted there and used for organ harvest because the eat clean, live clean and think clean. There are documentaries out there of Chinese Dr's out there explaining how they harvested organs from Falun Gong with guns pointed at their head. Anyway this group admired our Founding Fathers principles of un-biased Free Speech they started the Epoch Times. https://www.theepochtimes.com/about-us go to the 4th paragraph down. ( Two decades ago, the founders of The Epoch Times came to the United States with the dream of freedom of speech, freedom of religion, and the pursuit of happiness. We deeply admire the founding fathers of America, were inspired by the American people, and believe that a nation founded on rights and virtues is a great hope for us and our families. We established a non-profit media company to report the truth independently of any corporate, political, or financial agenda. The Party in China used to say "your voice is our voice," but it was a lie. Our aim is not to enforce our perspective on you, but to amplify your voice.)

I find it interesting that the Chinese people were warning us over 2 decades ago of what NOT to let happen in America.

Anyway, today you can support the Falun Gong via their dance group, Shen Yun . Please make the effort to support & enjoy their philosophy of "truthfulness, benevolence, and forbearance."

I remember reading about Falun Gong a few months ago, & couldn't believe what has (& probably continues today), to the Chinese people, just because they practiced a type of meditation(?), or a way to keep themselves in a good, positive, mental state. Thank you for the information about The Epoch Times.
