Often overlooked and therefore underestimated is the role that Blackrock's Larry Fink plays in all this. Blackrock underwrites the iShares family of index funds, and in his letter to Blackrock's shareholders every year he makes no secret of the fact that those companies who fail to toe his preferred ESG and climate change lines shall be excluded from those funds - no small segment of those companies shareholder base, as it turns out. Repeatedly he's touted the manifest benefits of the ESG route, interviews during which he conspicuously fails to mention what those alleged benefits might be. I've seen interviews during which the interviewer repeatedly grills him on this, from the interviewer's position he can't discern any benefits. As others have already pointed - well. there aren't any.
All this is out in the open. Not a Blackrock shareholder, I've read the letters, I've watched the interviews, I've seen the consternation on the faces of the interviewers for whom ESG doesn't make a lick of sense. Whether any of this has been scrubbed from the internet? A few years ago I saw this, and I haven't looked since.
There are alternatives to iShare index funds that work just as well. Others have cautioned about Vanguard, but I haven't looked into that. If your tax circumstances permit, vote with your feet and get out. If your situation doesn't permit, at the very least don't buy any more of either.

May I just interject something here that is off topic?
In my readings through Substack this weekend, I was treated to the infighting of the bickering geniuses. There are all kinds of arrows being cast. Once again, we witness humans becoming petty, ego driven and more worried about their wallets and their fan base than they are the crucial task in front of us.
Our children are dying. Our parents perished in nursing homes. We can barely afford to eat or visit our loved ones whose time on earth may be shortened. What we are facing is unparalleled, horrific and most of all—timely. So, it’s not about the new heroes who have cropped up on Substack. It’s not about sipping expensive cognac. It’s about saving humanity.
There are even rumors of these “heroes” being bribed by the opposing force with, as one pundit noted, “enough money to take care of his family very well.”
Look, we have to rise above the pettiness. Many of us wake up each morning hoping our family members have made it through the night. It’s time to get to work, leave our egos behind, and save ourselves. If we can’t do that, there is little hope for humanity.
Be better, heroes.
Be better.
P.S. I’d also like to point out there are many thousands of people who have been awake for decades, trying to wake people up before 9/11, including myself. We have spent nearly half our lifetimes planting seeds, posting on social media, being ostracized and sending out warning shots. Everyone has a role to play. No one is more special than the other. The only thing that matters is that we all get to work. We are better together. And now is the time.
Does a war on the WEF make sense? We know that wars on anything make them stronger - what you resist persists - and the WEF is so large and connected that we might be "swatting at an elephant" - seems like we need to take Buckminster Fuller's advice on "trim tabs" and look for the leverage points. WEF is making a lot of mistakes like SRI LANKA, Netherlands, and Canada. Perhaps we need to make those many times more visible (not attack, just make visible). Let their own actions speak loudly.
Yes we need to keep pointing it out and take the criticism that goes with speaking the unpopular truth. That is the form of war we must wage, its all about information now. All the info here is good, I always get a few more bullets in my gun from this interchange.
