I have actually read most of "The China Study". If a particular food group or plan is working for You, I say stick with it. It's my belief it may not work for another. There are many doctors/researchers who have done a study and put out books, (Dr. Atkins comes to mind), who advocate a certain food group or diet. Some could be downright dangerous. My mother did a juicing diet after reading a book to cure cancer. I believe it made her situation worse. Myself, I always loved spinach, beets, potatoes. At a certain point, I went on more vegetarian diet, eating huge spinach salads etc. Ended up with kidney stones. Sugar and anything in the form of excess carbs seems the major problem with most peoples health/weight problems. I wholly agree with the Drs' Malone - and say again, feel it out within your own body.
