For much of that time I've been on a deliberate keto-ish diet. As recently as April 2023, I was at 202 Lb. Several years earlier I was routinely in the 212 or more range. If you go back to my beer drinking days, add another ten Lb. While I’m blessed that I haven’t had any chronic health issues to date, I made these dietary choices because I believe they’ll improve my chances at being healthy for the rest of my life. I still nibble some foods that have empty carbs, but they're a small fraction of what they were in my diet even three years ago. Others find that they must totally avoid the junk. Obviously each person is unique and they should tailor their diet to their needs.
