I remember it well. We watched Pres Trump’s inspirational inaugural speech from here in Oz, and I remember thinking, “Wow, that was awesome. He just smacked down all of DC, and then some.”
This thought was quickly followed by the realisation that TPTB would now definitely do everything they could to destroy him.
Of course, the knives were out for him from the day he was elected, months before the inauguration. But this speech was an unequivocal declaration of war upon the DS. I was glad of it, but never under any illusion that the fight would be quick, easy, or even successful. But I finally allowed myself to hope that there would at least actually be a fight.
Doc., Re: Using Uber for transportation over inauguration weekend - it is going to be in furious demand from the crowds. May not be on time, and, like the hotels, may jack up their prices A LOT. In my experience, one time they cancelled at the very last minute! Another time, they drove me to the event with normal charges. But to drive me back home afterward, they charged 3X's the norm.
