Germany's main problem is the required loss of their national sovereignty as a member of the EU. Robert Conquest recognized “the inanities of the European Union… the preposterous notion that a ‘Europeanization’ can be created from above by a mixture of intellectuals and interest groups...”

Christine Anderson would strongly agree with you. As do I. And so goes the ROW as EU/EC is the prototype for the one world government being promoted by the UN and their partners the WEF.

Chinese EV also have a habit of spontaneously catching fire. That will be quite the surprise for European buyers. The Chinese have huge amounts of unsold EV just sitting around unsold, so Europeans could be getting a car that's been sitting in a field for years.

All EVs have that same liability. I have a home on Sanibel Island, FL. Hurricane Ian devastated us there. Two expensive (like $10M) homes on the Gulfside beach which had been flooded (totally underwater) caught fire a day after the hurricane. The multimillion dollar house was totally burned down, taking the adjacent multimillion dollar house along with it to the ground. The cause? A Tesla parked in the garage. Also, on the same day, the nearby golf course, "The Dunes" lost every single golf cart which burned to molten scraps of metal due to EV batteries. We remember the battery fire in Uzbekistan in 2023 which injured or killed 163. Or how about the S. Korea fire in June this year which killed 22? Or the ones in Escondido? Viviez, France? BTW, if you Google these, they show up at the bottom of the page or on page 2 or 3. "Nothing to see here, folks. Move along."

But in all seriousness, as also one of God's saved people, I thank you for openng up the big picture (God's) view of this. Not just the short term labor abuse by the manufacture of EVs in China is happening, but also the brutal rare earth retrieval by adolescents in the Congo and elsewhere for the precursor elements. It sounds strange, but, yeah—oil is so very much cleaner and safer; it will burn itself up (oxidize) in the atmosphere anyway if we don't capture it and burn it ourselves! It is percolating by the mega barrel out of the ocean's floor as we speak! A Realpolitik example of "use it or lose it!"

Your Jane Roe capture was excellent. I saw her speak. I was a member of Operation Rescue, and I prayed and sang psalms at 6 rescues in 3 states. In the one at the abortuary on Long Island, we were sent off with an address by Bernard Nathanson, the Roe abortionist. This send-off meeting was at the Wilkerson (Cross and the Switchblade) Church in lower Manhattan. Nathanson had repented and given his life to Christ. This was about 1989 I think. I was convicted of racketeering under RICO, since we were depriving Planned Parenthood of money that day. 120 of us were sentenced, and I served a few days in prison at that time. I tell my three grown girls that I am a "gangster of love". Not funny, really. But they are serious women after all. My oldest just adopted another child 3 months ago. One does what one can. God is in the driver's seat.

When a person makes decisions to become indebted to credit card companies or a mortgage they know they can’t afford its like making a deal with the devil. China has it's own issues. It's not the economic juggernaut many might think.

China's economy is suffering from vanity investments dictated by Xi Jin Ping and the CCP, typified by the over-investment in housing and real estate. Lots of high rise residential buildings stand partially complete, or complete but unoccupied. The name "Evergrande" should ring a bell. A city has been built with a replica of the Eifel tower and other buildings modeled after French architecture. They also stand mostly unoccupied. Some recently-built high rise apartment building have been demolished without ever having been occupied. As mentioned elsewhere in these comments, there are acres of electric cars that were manufactured years ago and were never sold and used.

Mal-investment has stressed may Chinese banks. There have been small-scale riots by depositors unable to withdraw their funds. Some of the successful billionaire entrepreneurs have been disappeared when they imprudently mouthed off about government micro-management of the economy.

For years China sustained strong economic growth as it changed and grew from an economy where most people were impoverished. It's now an economic behemoth, but it lacks the self-correcting mechanisms found in a true market economy. Hundreds of millions still live in poverty. Young people have a sense of hopelessness because so many have no prospects for good jobs or mates- the one-child policy led to an huge imbalance between males and females.

I fear the need for distractions will lead China to become more militarily aggressive, and will add to global instability.

Expand full comment

The gravity of the long-standing one child policy, that went to two and now three I heard populations numbers were 1.4 b to 550 m in 75 years. So many of the female "one" child births were given up for adoption, read 80,000 from late 1990 to 2023. I worked with a gal who adopted a girl in the late 1990s. There are too few females in China now making it hard on the males that want to marry.

Top down policy for the near term is short-sighted for the long term.

To ‘Empower Patients’ – First Dispel Seven Myths

By Deane Waldman, M.D., Vance Ginn, Ph.D

As Vice President Kamala Harris hides her support for Medicare for All, covertly championing her belief that healthcare is a fundamental human right, it becomes increasingly urgent to confront several myths that cloud the healthcare debate.

Cost is not spending

The U.S. spent $4.8 trillion on healthcare in 2023, but about half of that wasn’t on actual care—it was on the bloated bureaucracy that Harris’s plan would likely expand rather than streamline. The resources needed to produce health care services—the true cost—vastly differ from the inflated spending figures driven by administrative bloat. Real reform requires understanding and addressing this difference, not conflating the two.

The whole of the article is a good read.

Surely the insights you have provided, sound warning bells for our US! Milei's initiatives and result's can offer meaningful information on impacts.

The question becomes whether we find all too many taking Harris baits blissfully unaware of the profound crash they would cause.

At the time I wondered what on earth had happened to Merkel. Ahh yes, the WEF.

Lov the cat and its fur treatment. Notable semblance of the courageous leader.

On we go to an unknown tomorrow

doing all we can to make it better.

In the early 1990s my husband accepted a position as manager of the US division of a German based manufacturing company. It took several years for Hubs to change the negative perception of the company in the eyes of American clients who had dealt with them before because the Germans (and Europeans in general) do business quite differently from Americans. Over the next 10 years Hubs built the US division into a thriving, well-received corporation that depended on repeat business rather than solicited new business. Then, one day, the CEO noticed that the US division was contributing 25% of the total sales of the corp and decided it was time for all the finances and management needed to shift to headquarters in Belgium. Hubs could see the handwriting on the wall and he quietly made other arrangements. In 2001 he started his own company with an entirely different product and built it up just as he had done for the German company. I am not sure that company exists anymore. I always thought there was a big lesson in there somewhere.

It is clear that energy storage is the future of energy. The safest and most reliable energy source is hydro-power with it's own limitations of availability. The latest, woke, faddish sources like wind and solar are far more intermittent, creating an even greater need to store power. Power storage capability can smooth out the intermittent availability of all power sources. There are more ways to store power than simply make batteries. As example, pumping water uphill to a reservoir with available power can later generate power at a more desirable schedule. Lithium is today's power storage poster child, but ingenuity will change that.
