For example, Crenshaw was labeled a neocon for advocating we keep a small DOD presence in Afghanistan. That is ridiculous. I spent five years there and just keeping Bagram and Kabul minimally staffed (far far less troops than currently in Korea, Germany, etc) would have kept things in check. Not to mention the strategic position for future and likely inevitable Russia/China/Iran conflicts.
While I still would like some more transparency from him about his WEF young leader status, I think a lot of the hate for Crenshaw is that he didn’t tell in line for the Trump army. Crenshaw was very clear he wasn’t going to blindly worship Trump and called for the Conservative party to focus on its core beliefs and not rely on one man. Yet he still voted with Trump 90% of the time because he believed in Trump’s actions.
I don’t know that a few years at Harvard did much to change his core beliefs; even if I disagree with him on some things, I have found him to be consistent in what he says and how he votes.
He’s not my congressman but I think if we start discounting every politician who doesn’t align 100% with our personal agendas, we are going to be in for a world of shit.
